Coffee and Bicycles: A Love Story (Free Espresso If You Ride Here)
The Tour de France is on, which means for three weeks our morning routine is espresso and a broadcast from somewhere impossibly beautiful in the Alps. It also means it's time to say out loud something regulars already know: this shop is hopelessly in love with bicycles.
The oldest partnership in endurance sport
Coffee and cycling grew up together. The espresso bar and the group ride are both European inventions that run on the same fuel, and the sport never hid it — soigneurs passing up bottles of cold sweet coffee in the early Tours, riders slipping into cafés mid-race in the days when that was simply how racing worked, whole team cars organized around who gets the good espresso. To this day the café ride is cycling's sacrament: ride out hard, stop somewhere with a proper machine, drink a proper shot, ride home faster. Caffeine is one of the few performance aids that's legal, delicious, and best consumed in a sunlit chair watching your bike lean against a window.
And honestly, the two hobbies share a soul. Both are machines of a hundred small rituals — tire pressure and grind size, chain lube and bloom time. Both reward the patient over the flashy. Both communities will happily argue for an hour about equipment that outsiders cannot tell apart. If you love one, you're pre-qualified for the other.
Our standing offer: ride here, espresso's on us
So here it is, official and in writing: ride your bike to the shop and your espresso is free. Roll up to 600 Colorado Ave, helmet hair and all, and the shot's on the house. Road bike, beach cruiser, e-bike, the kid-hauler with the trailer — if you arrived by pedals, you qualify. No punch card, no minimum, no fine print. It's our small vote for a downtown Stuart where the bike racks fill up before the parking spots do.
That bike in the photo lives in the roastery between rides — leaning on coffee sacks from Guatemala, which feels about right. Some mornings the best part of roasting coffee is knowing that somewhere out on Colorado Avenue, someone is pedaling toward us with an empty stomach and good taste.
Allez, allez. ☕🚴
